The global Dog Brothers community consists of adult martial artists who practice the methodology for fighting full contact with blunt impact developed and maintained over 35 years by the original Founding Dog Brothers. See the DogBrothers USA site for history and details.
Dog Brothers Canada is open to everyone exploring the outer limits of full contact – without discrimination by gender, ethnicity, politics, or anything else apart from attitude. Due to the extreme level of trust and commitment required, all participants must able to observe the constructive intention to support each other to train, learn, and improve while maintaining the highest standards for Dog Brothers stick fighting.
In Canada, following the dictum “Our house, our rules”, the Dog Brothers Canada community abides by its own principles for its DB fighters and for conduct at its sanctioned fighting events – while maintaining those high standards and original intentions of the Dog Brothers Founders.
The Dog Brothers Canada community is led by the Alpha, Beta, and Elder of the Canadian Pack. The Alpha manages the affairs of the DBC internally, backed up by the Beta and advised by the Elder. The ABE collectively liaises to the other Dog Brothers fighter communities and represents the DBC to the world, as required.
Annually, Dog Brothers Canada hosts two sanctioned DB Gatherings of the Pack – one in winter and one in summer. These typically alternate between western and eastern Canada.
Each year, at or adjacent to the annual Canadian Summer Gathering, a ranked Full DB member of the DBC community is elected to lead the Canadian Pack as Alpha. The Alpha from the previous year moves to the Beta role. The Elder is the appointed DBC member representing DBC at the international DB Council of Elders.
